Website downloader

I use HTTrack whenever I need to copy a site (or an online book) knowing I will need the information with me when I am offline. HTTrack is free and simply spiders through a website, grabbing what you tell it grab in a multi-threaded and efficient way.

I love it.

Finally, something positive!

F- Comment Spam, people!

Comment spam is one of those things that are just stupid, annoying and irritating.
An automated program scours the web looking for a blog using software x. Regardless of the fact whether the user set his blog up to allow comments or not, it submits – as if filling the comment submission form – to the page that processes the comment postings.
If you are not careful, your blog can be overrun with postings that have garbage text and a link to a bogus – normally gambling – website.
All of this effort why? because they want ratings on Google as it measures how many links are pointed at a website and doing this will put a lot of links – who cares about permission – to their crappy website.
The fact that they post directly – even if you disable your comment posting page – is just a way for them to tell you they do not give a flight s-. I required that all comment postings be moderated by me to prevent such a situation. This innundated me with comment posting notifications.
The really crude cure – I just renamed the php page that processes the comment submission to something else. The deluge appears to have been finally stopped. Sheesh!

Quizno disappointment

I am not talking about food here, people!
Quizno’s subs used to have the most insane, original and interesting tv ads. From really stupid rats singing how much they love Quizno’s subs to a guy suckling a wolf. Really brilliant stuff.

Now all we are left with is a dumb baby that talks. Woah, how original is that? they should make a movie with this idea. John Travolta, yeah, I can see it coming together.
