F- Comment Spam, people!

Comment spam is one of those things that are just stupid, annoying and irritating.
An automated program scours the web looking for a blog using software x. Regardless of the fact whether the user set his blog up to allow comments or not, it submits – as if filling the comment submission form – to the page that processes the comment postings.
If you are not careful, your blog can be overrun with postings that have garbage text and a link to a bogus – normally gambling – website.
All of this effort why? because they want ratings on Google as it measures how many links are pointed at a website and doing this will put a lot of links – who cares about permission – to their crappy website.
The fact that they post directly – even if you disable your comment posting page – is just a way for them to tell you they do not give a flight s-. I required that all comment postings be moderated by me to prevent such a situation. This innundated me with comment posting notifications.
The really crude cure – I just renamed the php page that processes the comment submission to something else. The deluge appears to have been finally stopped. Sheesh!

Quicktime heart iTunes = stinks

So now if you want to install Quicktime on your comptuer because some person on the other side of the world decided to encode their video in Quicktime, you must download it WITH iTunes. There is no Quicktime per se anymore at Apple. Just Quicktime with iTunes. I do not iTunes but who cares, really?

I am lucky to have found an old CD with a still relevant version of the Quicktime installer so I am spared, but Apple is taking every page from the book the Microsoft wrote apparently. We own you, suckers!

IE and onblur events

Internet Explorer is less than perfect.
The example of the day:
If you want to catch blur events, this way:

and you have a textarea element within the same body element, clicking inside the textarea element will fire the blur event for the body.

Retarded, I know. I am too.
